Community Outreach & Education Programs

The Pinecroft Sedgefield Fire District is committed to providing the community with life safety education by teaching prevention in order to reduce life and property loss in the community. Our Fire and Life Safety Education Team is available to make presentations to schools, organizations or businesses. 

Tours & Experiences

Fire Station Tour 

Come see where firefighters work, eat, and sleep! This guided tour of a fire station gives a behind-the-scenes look at the daily life of a firefighter. You'll get to see the fire trucks, equipment, and learn about the importance of teamwork and readiness.

Fire Truck Visit 

A hands-on opportunity to see a fire truck up close! We'll explain the different tools and equipment firefighters use to help the community, answer questions, and let kids explore the truck. It's a great way to meet local firefighters and learn about what they do.

Safety Trailer 

Our mobile fire safety house provides a simulated, but safe, environment for people to practice fire safety skills. Participants can learn how to react when a smoke alarm goes off, how to check doors for heat, and how to safely exit a building. It's an immersive and effective way to learn life-saving skills.

Pre-School Program

Designed to introduce young children to firefighters in a friendly, non-threatening way. We teach basic fire safety concepts like what’s hot, what’s not hot, what a firefighter's gear looks like, and how to call 9-1-1 in an emergency. The goal is to make firefighters seem like friends who are there to help.

Elementary School
Program

This interactive program is tailored for elementary students to build on basic safety knowledge. We cover topics like recognizing fire hazards, creating a home escape plan, and practicing what to do when a smoke alarm sounds. We use engaging tools and activities to make learning fun and memorable.

Middle School Program

A program for middle schoolers that addresses more complex fire safety and prevention topics. We focus on personal responsibility and common risks for this age group, such as kitchen safety, the dangers of playing with fire, and the importance of having a communication plan with family in an emergency.

High School Program

This program engages high school students with real-world fire safety and career information. Topics include cooking safety, fire prevention in dorms or apartments, and how to prepare for and respond to natural disasters. We also discuss career paths in the fire service and how to become a firefighter.

Career Day/Career Fair

Firefighters will be on hand to talk about what it's like to have a career in the fire service. We'll discuss the training, skills, and dedication required for the job, as well as the variety of roles available, from EMT to fire inspector. We bring equipment to showcase the tools of the trade and answer questions from students.

Enlarging Machine

The Enlarging Machine is a fun, visual tool used to demonstrate fire safety concepts. This engaging and interactive show discusses important topics like how fast a fire grows, not touching tools like matches and lighters, and the importance of smoke alarms.

General Fire Safety Program 

A comprehensive program that covers essential fire safety for all ages. We'll discuss common causes of fires, how to prevent them, the importance of working smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors, and how to create and practice a family escape plan.

Fire Extinguisher Training 

This hands-on course teaches adults the proper and safe use of a fire extinguisher. We cover different types of extinguishers, when and how to use them, and the importance of knowing when to evacuate instead of fighting a fire. You'll learn the PASS method (Pull, Aim, Squeeze, Sweep) and gain the confidence to act decisively in an emergency.
