In 1956, a fire station was built on Osborne Road to replace the original fire station, which was located in the back of the Gate City Truck Stop.  Due to annexation, a new fire station was built in 1974 on Bishop Road, serving as the fire department’s headquarter station.  This is the site of the current Station 24. 

 

Station 24 is currently staffed by 7 full-time shift personnel consisting of 1 Battalion Chief and 6 Firefighters.  Being the headquarters station, it is also staffed by 4 full-time 8-5 personnel consisting of the Fire Chief, 2 Assistant Chiefs, and our Administrative Assistant.  It is the home of Battalion 24, Engine 24, Rescue 24, Tanker 24, Brush 24, and UTV 24.
